Studios
East Street Arts has studios available across the UK. Our main sites are in Leeds but we also run temporary studios nationally.
Since 1993 we have recycled former offices, industrial units, shops and other empty spaces and transformed them into usable and unique spaces to host artists and other creatives.
Through purchasing buildings and long-term rental agreements we have placed sustainability and resilience at the core of our work.
In 2004, we purchased our first building, Patrick Studios, planting our roots in Leeds. In Leeds we now own two additional spaces: Convention House and The Art Hostel and we rent two spaces: Barkston Studios and Union 105.
All our venues host artists in studios, workshops, meeting spaces and social spaces making them feel at home and building long-lasting relationships and networks, nationally and internationally.
Need an exhibition space, a studio, or somewhere to run a workshop? We are here to help…For external bookings & hire of our Patrick Studios project space and other bookable rooms, please email rooms@esamail.org.uk, and for studio queries or requests, please email spaces@esamail.org.uk
Studios also includes rehearsal usage. Examples of projects include: exhibitions, events, talks and workshops.
We sat down with Julia McKinlay in her studio, at Patrick Studios, to catch up with her about her upcoming residency/exhibition with Hiroko Nakajima at the Nakanojo Biennale exhibited from 9 September, her practice, and her process of working.
Emma Bentley-Fox is a familiar face here at East Street Arts - she’s one of our programme producers, a studio holder, and is midway through her six-month residency at Convention House. We caught up to have a chat with her ahead of her solo show, Confessions of a Party Mom which opens at Hyde Park Book Club on Tuesday 18 April.
Ro Hardaker (she/they) is an artist currently based in Leeds (UK). Her performance based practice attends to and is slick with prophecy.
Keighley Arts Hub is emerging as a popular grass roots community arts hub in the old Marks & Spencer building in the centre of Keighley.
Established in 2013 Barkston Ceramics was launched to support entrepreneurial makers, responding to the recognised need for a bespoke ceramics facility in the City.
