Assistant Producer - Kickstart Placement

This is a unique opportunity to gain real world practical experience of working for an established arts charity, with a busy and innovative programme team, a must for any art workers CV!

Eligibility criteria for Kickstart applicants: Aged 16-24 Claiming Universal Credit In receipt of no other earned income.

The assistant producer will be a member of the public programme and engagement team. Working with the Engagement Lead and Programme Producers, the Assistant Producer will support the team to:

  • Work with local community members
  • Support artists to create ambitious artworks and support artist residencies
  • Attend artist, team and company meetings
  • Supporting delivery of community engagement work and events e.g. Summer school, Neighbourhood forum meetings, public open days, open studios, performances, talks, workshops etc.
  • Supporting community outreach with flyering, distribution of any printed materials, sending emails, posting information to participants.
  • Event bookings and ticketing
  • Room and venue booking
  • Updating programme calendar
  • Setting up and packing down events, including setting up tables and chairs
  • Ordering materials online and buying materials in person
  • Support producing printed materials
  • Keeping inventory of and maintaining equipment
  • Maintaining filing systems
  • Data entry
  • Minute taking in meetings

Essential skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of using emails, word processing, Zoom (or similar) and cloud-based software e.g. Google Drive
  • Confident in talking to a wide range of people
  • Confident in speaking to large groups of people
  • Interest in the arts
  • Knowledge of administration, or similar tasks that require accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • Knowledge of working on multiple projects or activities at once
  • Understanding of the needs of different groups of people when accessing arts activities
