You will be working on our recently funded adult learning programme, The Creative You! LifeSkills Project which aims to use a creative learning approach to engagement. We aren’t interested in one size fits all approaches to our work with people and communities. Our work is increasingly socially-engaged and co-created, which means we love projects which happen with people (rather than at them!). This project aims to build on the work we have been doing with the East Leeds neighbourhoods.
Creative You! LifeSkills Project supports unemployed and inactive residents living primarily in the Mabgate, Burmantofts and Lincoln Green neighbourhoods and surrounding areas of Harehills and Gipton to find pathways to employment using arts engagement activities, support, mentoring and advice, alongside the development of a range of lifelong skills to make a successful transition into the labour market.
East Street Arts will deliver a programme of participatory arts activities, digital capability upskilling, practical skills in job search using creative engagement strategies and workplace experiences with participants. We will use the creative education approach to learning and provide practical experience in the creative arts and hospitality to develop a range of transferable skills and knowledge which are useful in the workplace, build their self-esteem, confidence, articulation, communications skills and to signpost them to sustainable support routes to social inclusion, training and/or employability. The programme will engage participants in weekly sessions, hands-on activities, 1-2-1 mentorships, work placement and shadowing.
Salary: £17,280 part time at 27 hours per week (full time equivalent salary: £24,000 per annum).
Type of Contract: Fixed term, 12-month contract.
Deadline for applications: 12 noon on Friday 26 November 2021.
