‘The Reality of Small Differences’ challenged an exhibition that was displayed in a wing of Temple Newsam that has no lift. The only alternative for disabled people wanting to see the tapestries in situ was to watch a documentary film, download an app or journey to Liverpool where the tapestries were also on show. This just added insult to injury.
Brought together by Gill Crawshaw with the support of Inkwell and Union105, ‘The Reality of Small Differences’ acted as a showcase of talent and creativity of disabled people as a positive response to the decision to display the tapestries in that particular location in Leeds. The show ran at different times from the end of August to the start of October and Inwell and Union 105.
